One of These Days

One of these days, soonish, I will start exercising again. I miss it. But I have a lot going on in my life right now.

So, actually it helps to realize that I'm not going to exercise unless I do it first thing in the morning. And since first thing in the morning is my best time for doing things, that time sometimes goes to other things. I'm going to have to prioritize and start putting exercise first. But not today.

Sunday, April 18

Exercise:
Jog 1 mile
Walk Daisy 1 mile

Food:
2 slices low carb ww bread with peanut butter
Coffee
Strawberries
Butternut squash/ ham/ white bean soup

Thoughts:
I've been exercising and cooking healthfully and not doing much else. Life has entered into the picture. So I've decided that, until things slow down again, I'm going to stick with jogging and walking Daisy. If there's time for more - great! If not, I'll stick to the minimum. I'll miss the dance tapes, so I know I'll start that up again when things slow down.

Argh! When I'm hungry for more breakfast, I need to eat more breakfast and not try to put it off and then just eat and eat. Note that none of the above was particularly bad, but my eating was out of control. Also my head was fuzzy all day and I didn't accomplish anything I planned to accomplish (aside from exercising). I probably should have taken a nap after exercising.

Thoughts:
Well, I didn't like the 15 minutes of Jenny anymore than I liked 30 minutes. I think I'm going to replace this. I have some 10-minute DVDs ordered. I'll keep the 15 minutes until they arrive and replace them. Or maybe I'll let myself not do it if I jog extra long. It's hard to keep at it when I don't like it.

The belly dancing is taking a LOT of learning. This is the second time I've gone through the moves. I haven't made it through all of them yet. This is definitely going to take a long time. You have to go through the beginning ones to reach the end ones. I think.... I'll investigate a little more here.

I'm going to have to enlist more help at the Chinese Restaurant. The fish were breaded and pan-fried. Cragin's Shrimp wasn't and had broccoli (my favorite!) as a side. I'll have to be more selective. The dessert? Hey life happens. My theory is I can eat anything. I just have to work it into the plan. Knowing ahead of time would help, but this is a lifetime commitment and not a diet.

Probably 30 +7 +20 + +14 +7 + 45

Thoughts:
I'm getting tired of Jenny on the Wii. I can't seem to do anything right. It's all "Do as I do, follow me," etc., even when I think I am. So I decided today that if I jog in the mornings, I only have to do 15 minutes with Jenny on the Wii.

Also I tried my Paula Abdul DVD this morning and I still don't like it. She goes too fast for me. I can't keep up and it's frustrating. The Jody Watley one is much more fun. (Hey, I liked the 80s.) Plus she does abs work at the end, which I definitely need. Also I like the stretches she does at the end of the end. So I'm going to stick with her for a while even thought the video quality is horrible.

I like Hip Hop Dance Party with Jennifer G(whatever), so I'll stick with that also. I've just added the last 15 minute segment and am still working on learning the steps. Oddly enough, the box step is the one that is throwing me.

First Post

I wanted an adjunct page to "Kay's Happenings" because I plan to update this every day, but I don't want my five faithful followers to have to read all of this if they don't want to do so. So here it is on the side of my main blog. I plan to keep my diet and exercise diary here.

In January the doctor has some unpleasant news for me. My cholesterol was high and my blood sugar was high. She gave me a drug for the cholesterol. But late onset diabetes is best handled through diet and exercise for as long as possible. I've had one meeting with the dietician. I'm supposed to (and will) call to set up another. The doctor wants to talk to me again also.

I've started exercising and watching what I eat. I've lost 15 pounds. But since I need to note what I eat (and count the carbs), well, I might as well do it here.

So I have the time for exercise and cooking for eating healthfully, I've quit my job. Well, there were obviously other problems or I would not have quit. But I consider getting healthy my job for now.
